The Australian based AUSTAL shipyards were awarded the contract for the construction of four vessels on 18 February 2009. The contract was co-financed by the European Union External Borders Fund. The vessels’ planing hull are entirely made of aluminium and are also equipped with stern ramp facilities to launch and recover their 3.5 mtr RHIB. All four vessels were delivered in February 2010 and commissioned on 18 March 2010.
