The sniper is a skilled soldier in field-craft and marksmanship. He wears a camouflaged suit called a Ghillie suit so that he can blend in his surroundings to render himself practically invisible to the untrained eye. The sniper's primary weapon delivers long range, precision fire on priority targets from concealed sniping positions in support of combat operations. Sniper teams are also employed on intelligence gathering and surveillance operations tasks. They are also tasked to deny the enemy freedom of action by targeting enemy key personnel such as officers, radiomen and crew-served weapons operators.
